Hello,
I want to change my sails for the Isonic105. My weight is 67kg and 180cm. My other board is a Ftype138 for 8-14knots with 9.5 and 8.5. I want to choose 2 sails who are good for this board and me. I want to go fast but with my weigt what are the approx recommended sizes? One sail For use in 15-20 knots? One sail For use in 20-25 knots? Severne Overdrive or NP RSSlalom or NP Saber ? Thx, Danny |

Danny,
I would go with the TR2 Maui Sails Sail. THis is what I use for the I sonics. I would say a 76 and 5.9 TR 2 would work great. Kevin

Kevin, so, if someone had a quiver of non-Maui Sails sails, would that person need to get new masts to go with the Maui Sails? I read somewhere that Maui Sails' masts have different curve characteristics. Why benefits do Maui Sails give the sail/rider as a result of this different bend/curve?

Hi Denny,
I used the 105 with GTX '05 and OD '06/'07. The OD really works great on this board. You of course have to care for your weight. OD 7.5: 12-18 Kts OD 6.5: 14-22 Kts OD 5.5: 18-30 Kts This is a rough estimations from my own experience and fellow surfers in relation to your own weight. I have surfed the board with GTX 6.0, 6.5, 7.0 and OD 7.5. 6.5 to 7.5 really are nice sizes and I guess up to 8.5 won't be a problem. |

The best thing about the Maui Sails is the bend/curve characteristics. The way they bend makes for a more stable sail that can be pumped and alive in all conditions. No you dont have to have the Maui Sails Masts, but it sure does help. I would try one if you can.
