Hi Ola H,
this year I used Quad 71 (2010). Max. sail 5,3 in lighter winds, sideshore. Now I want new board. My weight 71kg. I am not sure, if I should go for 74 or 77 (2011). I need board again for side shore (Cabo Verde), sometimes stronger wind, but mainly not very strong wind, but good waves. Should i go for 74? Thank you Pat |

Hmm, not easy to say. I heard it can be very light there and in big wave conditions a few extra liters can help avoiding getting into trouble.
But I think you can answer the question best yourself. If you think the Q71 was pretty alright in size and didn't have too much problems on the light days I would surely get a Q74. It will feel a bit floatier than the 71 so it will still be a bit of a light wind upgrade. But if you had serious problems slogging the 71 you might consider the 77. Personally I'd bring the 74 if I would go the CV (and I'm your weight). |

Thank you Ola H, I will go for 74. Didn´t mind a bit sinking 71 in lighter wind, once it gets speed, everything is ok. I was just wondering, what is difference between 74 and 77. I prefer smaller boards, so I go for smaller :-)

Not that much. Half a centimeter in width and one cm in length. I reckon most of the volume difference is in thickness and rails.
