Hi Mate,
I’ve just replaced my 07 Kombat 97 with a 08 model, have only sailed it twice with 6.5m and 6.0m opensea. It was nice as my mate who bought my 07 model was sailing along side. The board sails flatter on the water, rails from the acid so gybes differently but nevertheless, easy to hold through the gybe either sharp or drownout, holds speed well throughout. The board plains earlier for sure and is certainly quicker, not as much nose rocker to help the freestylers out there, but even so the shoulders don’t catch. Lots have changed over last years model, and was wary that it might be the sort of board I was looking for as I certainly enjoyed last years model, but I can assure you I have a huge smile on my face after just my second sail aboard the new Kombat

Thanks!
because the scoop is less compared to last year and as far as I can see the tail width has increased it would be less suitable for coastal sailing, is this correct ? |

Hi,
I`m about to change my 2005 Kombat 95 to a new one and a bit hesitant which one to choose. I`d love to have a smaller one for waveriding but I use 5 and 5.7 Blades the most on it with my 85 kgs. I ride on small waves and choppy conditions. Which one would you suggest? Does the 89 have a good low end performance too? |

post#5: For best all round performance at your weight and with these sail sizes I think you should definitely look at the 89. 5.7 s still within the sweet spot for that size. The 89 also comes with the Drake Natural wave fin (25cm) and think that will be perfect for you (might want to complement with a smaller fin (22 or maybe 23) for powered up 5.0 sailing in good waves).
