Default PWA slalom 42 gear model restriction?

Hi,

I've heard that the PWA restricts the use of certain sails for slalom 42.
For example, you're not allowed to race with the Gaastra GTX but only Vapor.
Is this true? Also for unsponsored riders?

The question is why you would want to use a GTX if you were competing against the top pros in the world. Most people on the PWA racing tour are sponsored. As far as I am aware- there are just a fee restrictions in regards to what sail manufactures you can use for racing. If a manufacturer- like Hot sails Maui or another smaller brand isnt a major tour sponsor (or a paid member) you cant race with their sails in a PWA event.
There are other opportunities to race with a smaller brand sail in the Euro cup events as well as international and national slalom and formula series.
PWA has a bit of a restrictive nature - youve got to play by their rules if you want to play at their level.
