Hi team, what would be the optimum sized SL2 for the Isonic 133 (2008) with 9m RS Racing? Upwind is important, but also off the wind needs to be slippery still. Thanks.

Hi Nifty,
Depends of the condition, but I am using the SL2 48cm and the R16 52cm. Both are excellent but the R16 need more feeling and glide very well. All the best |

Great, thanks Remi. I was guessing 48 -50cm. Is the supplied 52cm fin, (the one that comes with the 133), too much for the 9m? or is it usable maybe when very marginal? Thanks.

hi Nifty,
the supplied 52cm fin is not very good (see French forum) it gives me many spin out with 9.0 |

Thanks for your feedback Christophe, which fin is your preference for the 9m?

I have used this board just a few times
this board replace my previous formula so I have only long fins I think between 50 and 55 cm in quality superior it would be a good choice for 9.0 As I would like to use a 10m˛, I have tried a deboichet R13 65cm : it works very well with wind < 15 Knots and flat water but it would be more difficult with choppy water |

Ok, thanks for that, just be carefull not to use too much fin on the Isonics as I learned with my Is122 - they don't like too much fin, and also a bit fussy with the rake - she like the rake of the supplied Drake fin or close to that, but not raked too much forward. Anybody feel free to correct me if I am wrong. Thanks.

Nifty,
I also agree it's not very usefull to overfin iS122 or iS133, Rémi is spot on with his fin suggestions for a 9.0 m2 sail. I've tried a 11.0 m2 sail on iS133W85 with a Select RS7 55 cm fin and this is just fine for both low and high end, absolutely no need to get a larger fin than that. The same setup on iS122W75 is way too much with crystal clear diminishing returns. So, I feel a 65 cm fin + 9.0 sail + iS133W85 combo is a bit odd to say the least. Cheers ! JM |

Hi Nifty,
I use to sail my IS 133 with a Code Red 9.0 (2006). For mi weight (89 KG) the Drake 52 suppied with the board works perfectly between 10-15 knots, the board glides high with a slightly "Formula feeling" but much more responsive and impressive speed. Recently I purchased a new Deboichet SL2 46 that I tried last weekend, between 12-18 knots the IS 133 is now a "pure" Slalom board (while maintaining good pointing ability) with lots of speed and control. |
