Hey Guys

I am hoping that you can help, I have a similar problem, I have recently started racing and have found that my free ride gear is not up to it. I have recently got 2xNP V8's, 7,5 & 6,5M. I currently have a 06 Carve 111, which I have been really happy with until now, but it is just not competative with the Falcons.

I have placed an order for an Isonic 101 and from the dimensions I am hoping that it will plane earlier than the Carve and also be a lot faster- as my firends are getting away from me in lighter winds (13 knots) - we only have 2 or 3 races below 15 knots - the rest are between 15 and 30 knots

Am I correct in assuming that the wider tail is going to make a much bigger difference when racing in lighter winds? Will I get planing earlier on the Isonic 101 than the Carve 111. the rest of the dimensions are very similar to the Carve?

Oh I weigh 75kg - is the 101 the right board?

My new Isonic 101 has just arrived, and it looks like the wind is going to be blowing between 18 and 25 knots on the weekend, so things are looking pretty good.
I do have one question though - I have 2 slalom sails a 7.5 and 6.5. 2008 NP V8's, the 2 fins that came with the boards are 42 and 34cm fins - which sail to use in what range of winds, I generall use the 7.5 till about 19 knots, is the 42 not a bit big between 16 to 19 with the 7.5 or is it ok. isnt the 34 to small around 20 knots? I do have a mean 38 slalom that I have been using up till 20 knots.What do you suggest?

You can run the 42 & 34 with the 7.5. Change down to the 34 when getting to much back foot pressure. 34cm will be perfect with your 6.5

Remember add plenty of downhaul with the Isonics as they have low nose rocker and v8's have plenty of grunt anyway, so max it!

Guys

Was out on the weekend in 20+ knots. I must tell you I was really impressed, I was sailing with my 08 NP V8 6.5 in 19 to 26 knots. I hit 28,4 knots on the GPS which I was pretty happy with as there was around half a meter+ of chop, and could feel that the board had a lot more speed in it, I must admit I was not going flat out (it was the first time I was on the board). I had the 36 cm fin on it and had no spin out at all.

I was really impressed as to how the board remained controlable through the gusts it was great - guys well done on designing a great board - now I just have to try it out in the lighter winds (13+knot) - I will update the thread once done.

So far exactly what I was looking for and can highly recomend for any sailor who weighs around 75kg and wants a slaolom board for 13 - 25knots.
