Talking s- type rail design

Kevin,
I know it not in the lineup anymore ( sad) but i am curious about the s-type's rail design. More specifically the "double rail".
I am referring to the small flat just under the tucked in rail , which extends from mid board and extends back to the tail.
This board is so manuverable , to the point of being nervous (as Boards magazine referred to it ).
Its also hard to catch the rail and trip over it like a harder rail design.
I expect that this double rail is what makes the boards so loose, and subsequently good for supercross, and that why it was designed into the s types.
And there tradeoffs, does it effect early planing and or pointing at all?

Yeah it was designed for super x to make it good for spocks and everything. I dont really know what the tradeoffs were but it sure did work good on the Stypes. Sorry I cant be more help.

dont be sorry, i am sure you get alot of wierd questions.
Its just an interesting design, a few of the local boardheads are always looking at this stuff and wondering what the idea is behind them.
Years ago some boards (if i remember correctly : fanatics) had this except the flat was a concave , and supposed to create more lift, but unless a concave is orientated straight down in the water i cant see how that worked .
