I use NP sails but i wouldn't say that this problem is a result of the sail. It's a common thing that happens to many a sailor adjusting to new gear, as Jasper mentioned.
I think you get used to a particular stance with a rig / board combination and when you jump on a new combination even a slight change can throw you out. In my case I have often solved this by dropping my weight and moving forward into the harness. Unless something is significantly out in the rig, often the problem disappears through gradual adjustment in stance. But I can understand that it is very very frustrating when you make a million adjustments and nothing seams to work. I would ask another sailor to jump on the board as a reference. |

I have the same set up, IS 86 and RSS MKII 5.8
I'm using a 32 cm tectonics fin Back strap - back holes, outboard Front strap - middle holes, outboard Mast track - center (recommended position) Boom height - 54.5 - 55 inches (bottom of mast extesion to center of boom tube) Sail down haul - max Sail outhaul - max My height - 5'11 My weight - 155 lbs Harness - wave seat hotsails maui Harness lines - 32" Pants inseam - 32" wind - 18-24 kts water - rough, choppy, bump and jump, insane chop, vodoo chop So far I can't make the board work well unless the back strap is at the back holes and out board. All the rest I can tune or adjust. My front foot has a light feeling on the board but not wanting to fly. Dan |

Hi Dan,
get the masttrack in front of the sweetspot by 2 cm and release teh outhaul from the max. Also you could try to get in a 34 cm fin. Interested in your feedback! Chris

So far this set up works best for me now. I've tried placing the mast track foward a bit but I didn't like where the water was releasing. It felt slow and seems that I was riding more than what the flat planning surface actaully is. (about 72 cm long) I also have a 34 cm tectonics fin. The 32 cm works way better. I have some issues though with the width of the back straps when I use the back holes. They are about 2 cm further a part than the holes in the front straps. I'll take some pics and post it for you and the rest of the guys to see. Unlike my other Isonics (101, 145) the distance of the footstraps holes are the same for the back and the front. Dan |
