Default fin for SB160. Remi?

hi.
I am looking at buying my first formula board (coming from an HS 105, that I will keep for stronger winds).
I am 65kg, and will be sailing in light wind (below 10knots) and in very choppy conditions.
I was thinking of buying a SB 160 rather than the 161/2. any thoughts?

also, given that my sail would most likely be a 10m (Vapor / tr5 ), whats the best deboichet fin to use? ( i am quite lite...)

thk u

Not Remi, but I can bet he gone to tell you Debo R13 + 6 or +8.
And is the best you can have for this board and sail considering your wheigt and your max Sail ( only 10 mts).
Foot straps in the back position and mast foot in the middle of the back half part of the mast track.
Boom at eye heigth and long lines.

Suerte,

Michel

thks michel!
only 10m ? ;-)
I was advised to only look at 10m as given my weight I would gain very little with an 11m and certainly loose more in the upper range. would you agree?

10 mts sail is for High wind Formula. A 11 mts feels almost the same but with better Low end..... Another story to Uphaul the new sails with double leading edge. if this bag fills with water you are dead ( or need to use a easy uphaul). Maybe with 65 kg you are rigth ( i have not 65 kilos from year 1980, when I had 13 years.....). maybe you are rigth, but here in our fleet guys with 65 to 75 kg goes in 11`s. up to 18 - 20 knots.

Letīs wait Remi answer..... He also have a lot of knowledge of ligth weigths ( he is the trainer of Moran and other juniors and youths in FE).

Saludos,
Michel

Hi maetpad,

I confirm that the best fin for you will the Deboichet R13 Soft rake + 6cm.

All the best

merci Remi.
Any opinion regarding the 10m sail (vapor etc) for my 65 kg? would an 11m be better? I was told that what I would gain at the bottom end would only be marginal. thks!

For yor weight a R13 soft - and rake 5 would be a perfect choise up until 18knots and than go for a R13 medium or soft+ with rake 4, with that fins you don't need a another sail.

I understand Wilhem Schurman is currently sailing on the F160 and with very good results. Do you know which fin(s) he is using on it and his tuning tips?

Thanks.
