New 2010 iS94 - Look of the board?

Dear Starboard
I received today my new iSonic 94, but what a big disappointment the look of the board is. The overspraying on the deck look really like a back yard spray job. In the past 8 years, I purchased 13 star-boards (this is no. 13, maybe this is the problem) and part of the fun of buying was to receive a board of high quality in all aspects. The overspray really destroyed the look and is a great disappointment for me. I can't see any techinical benefit and was just wondering what on earth was starboard thinking allowing such look. If this is what the market is asking, then I don't know. Certainly, I am not part of that market demand. Also, a surprise for me that the board is supplied without a fin? A first time for me. The dealer did not inform me about it, so I end up $250-$300 short on my budget after paying already a high price for the board. Last year I purchased an iS76, this year I paid 600$ more for iS94 and the board is supplied without a fin. Just not feeling right to me.

Nonopr, heres a pic: I think Dian means the over-spray on the nose. A bit different to previous designs, but it wont effects its speed. It does say on the iS product briefing page that no fins will be supplied for 2010. I guess this is because peps complained about spin-outs etc (me included). Could have shot ourselves in the foot, so to speak.

Dian, keep use posted on how the iS94 rides, Im thinking of swapping the Sonic 100 for one.

Well, it's a design... and the wave boards got it too. I think it looks kind of fresh, but what do I know?

I don't know how the thoughts went before ditching the oem fin, but other brands also supply the slalom boards without fins, and competitive slalom sailor usually have their own quiver of high end fins anyway. And there have quite a few people that have requested Starboard to stop supplying the fin and instead lower the prices. Now the price went up anyway (at least where I live) but that's for different reasons.

But in any case, your dealer should have informed you about that fins are now longer supplied for iSonics. The message from Starboard to distributors have ben VERY clear about this.

Anyway, I hope you will sort things out and be happy with the board. The 94 seems particularly exciting this year, so please tell us how you like it.

I think for Starboard to cut on offering a fin with the boards was to save the planet of all those fins we never elected to use.

Hmm well the look is different I certainly don't mind it.
Performance wise Ive had this baby out a few times now and im extremely happy with it.
Planning and Acceleration is excellent I would say compare to the IS86 I had last year it rides abit looser in the tail. It really handles the chop very well, Ive peaked at 35 in some pretty nasty chop so im very pleased there.
So Im looking forward to sailing this board some more seasons just kicked off here.

Hi Vando! Do you think your new si94 handles chop even better than is86?
35 knots is chop is very respectable!

Hallo Vando. Do you use the wood or the carbon isonic?
What can you tell about the difference in size of the 86 and the 94? Is the 94 comfortable with 7.0 m2, my findings are the 7.0 is a little to big for the 86.
Is the wider tail helping here.

Marko hard to say ive had the 94 in up to 25knots of wind so far so and in the those conditions I would say the 94.

Gookie My 94 is wood and the 121 is Wood/carbon.
I wasn't going to go the Carbon for the IS121 but after sailing it for the first time the other day Im glad i did. It feels very light and stiff on the water and seems to plane abit earlier so for light wind racing it should do very well.
I do like the extra volume compared to last years its suits my weight very well.
I struggled abit last year in some of the very light wind racing so be interesting how things go this season.
As for the 7.0 on the 94 I think that combo will rock and thats what im counting on cause Ive ordered a 7.0 in the new 2010 range on Blades.
