Hi Ola
Just wondered If the quad 71 gets going earlier than the evo 70 2009, plus would the quad take a 5.3 okay. I am 74 k and sail on the south coast of England. Thank you for your good work on the forum regards Colin |

Not much difference in getting going early, at least not if you use the EVO 70 with something like a 23cm fin. But the Quad goes much, much easier upwind once going so in practice it's more effective in marginal conditions. And the Q71 is looser (as in easier to get into the turn and easier going rail to rail and get a good setup for the top turn) than the E70 with a 23cm fin. At your weight, both will handle 5.3 OK.

Cool. Good luck with it and report back when you've gotten some time on the water.
If you're venturing into really windy conditions (as in 4.0 and smaller) you might want to consider getting a set of 13cm front fins also. They soften up the ride a bit which is nice particularly in the top turn in really windy conditions. |
