Formula experience + severne overdrive 2011

Hello, I want to know if anyone has conducted and compared the shapes of SAILS SEVERNE OVERDRIVE 9.7m 2011 vs SEVERNE OVERDRIVE 10.0m 2010, using the StarBoard FORMULA EXPERIENCE 160, 2011.
I wonder if they have different benefits.
SEVERNE boom made Tackle ALU RACE 250-270, in both sails and mast SEVERNE 530 BLUE LINE TO THE 9.7 2011 and BLUE LINE SEVERNE 540 for 10m 2010.

Hi Camilo,

Their is no Sverne Overdrive 2011 on the market yet, so I suppose you mean 2009 vs 2010 sail.

530 & 540 are the same mast but the 530 have the advantage to be use on the 11 & 9.7.

The 2010 Overdrive can be trim more easily compare to the 2009 due to his new cams.

I'm from Chile (sorry for my english).
I'm new in Formula Experience, and i would like to know if the 2010 has any feature in performance that is better than the 2009 Severne Overdrive.
To sailing with 10 knots conditions. I weight 80 kgs.
The local distribiutor is offering me both models, but the mast 530, necessary to rig the 9.7 it will not available until november. In the meantime they will lend me a Neilpryde X6 mast in 520 cm. Is it compatible?

Hi Camilo,

Yes better to go for the Severne Overdrive 9.7, the 540 and 530 are the same just longer by the base, so you can cut it by 10cm and you have the 530
The Neil Pryde X6 in 520 is not correct for the Class 100% Carbon, rules is max 75% carbon. If you want to use a 430 it will be ok

The new model of the Starboard Formula Experience 160, when it will be available?
What renovations have you done?
In my country, I bought my Starboard Formula Experience in the month of July, to be delivered in October. I was told they are 2011 models. I mean the new model will Starboard Formula Experience?

Hi Camilo,

By FE rules, there won't be any change in the shape and construction of Starboard Formula Experience 160 board. Actually it`s the same board, just with few graphic changes, since 2006.

Regarding the Overdrive sail, what we feel here in Brazil is that the new model (2010) is more stable and faster than the previous model. The wind range is great and the construction and finishing details are better.

Hi,

I am looking at getting either the Severne Overdrive 9.7 or 11m (2010) models.

I am trying to get an idea what the difference will be like? not easy to demo...
I am 72Kg and 6,1 ft, will be using it on an Exocet 2008 board initially and perhaps a Starboard 160/ a little later.

Anyone with some real experience with these sails care to comment? What the difference in the wind range at my weight and what would suggest if you had to choose just one?
