Hi, I'm currently sailing a starboard go 144 , I've got sails from 4.5 to 6.5 m and I weight bout 84kg. The only fin I have at present is a 33cm shallow wide fin which I'm told is deep Tuttle. Which fins would maximise the potential or my board and rig? Also I think my next board will probably be another starboard of smaller size ie a carve or futura or similar. Will I be able to use the same fins on these boards? Cheers Andi

Hi Andi,
The OEM stock fin for the 2008 GO 144 was a 48 cm. GO 144 144 246 79 50.0 11.0 5.0-10.0 Drake R13 Race SL 480 S-Flex 42-52 Deep Tuttle If the above are the specs. for your GO 144 the 48 cm S-Flex would be a good place to start. Are you sailing in lots of wind (i.e. > 15 knots most of the time)? Your sail sizes would seem to be somewhat "limiting" for the lite wind potential of the GO 144. For that board, around 7.5-8.5 m2 would be optimum in 12-15 knots (probably the optimum range for the GO 144). If you get larger rigs, then the fin range would be 42 cm-56 cm. 42 cm for your sails < 5.5 m2 46-48 for sails in the 6.5-7.5 m2 range. 52-56 cm for sails larger than 7.5 m2 in light winds. Hope this helps, Roger |

Hi Andi,
No, Deep Tuttle fins will no fit in the 111-125 liter boards. The mostly have Standard Tuttle fin boxes. But...... std. Tuttle fins will fit in your deep Tuttle fin box just fine. You will need to find some longer fin screws (about 18-20 mm longer) . There are no strength issues with std. Tuttle fins in deep Tuttle fn boxes, and if you stay under 60 cm fin span, you probably won't be able to find any Deep Tuttle fins. > 60 cm, there can be issues with std. Tuttle fins. < 60 cm there really are no issues. If you have any issues when fitting your new fins get back to me here and I can walk you through how to correctly "fit" your new fins to your deep Tuttle fin box. Hope this helps, Roger |
