Hi zcota,
Yes, the std.Tuttle fin head should fit perfectly in the Deep Tuttle fin box.
The difference between Deep Tuttle and Std. Tuttle is the height of the fin
head (fin root).
You will need longer fin screws as the stock fin screws will be approx.
18 mm too short. So you need fin screws that are about 20 mm longer than what
came with your board.

The Deep Tuttle fin head is recommended to provide more support and structural strength for fins
with a span greater than (>) 55-60 cm. so for a 41 cm the Std. Tuttle fin should be more than
strong enough.
Hope this helps,
Roger

All the best

I have a Starboard Hypersonic. The fin box is 4" deep, but the deep tuttle fin I got only is 1.5" deep. Do I need a 4" deep tuttle, do these still exist, etc?

psychowboy.
A regular Tuttle fin bas will fit nicely in a Deep Tuttle fin box but you will need longer (very long actually) fin screws.
All Tuttle box fins depend on the straight sides for support (axially).
The front and rear tapers are what sets the depth of the fin head in the Tuttle fin box.
You can build up (with a thickened epoxy like Marine Tex or similar) the front and rear
tapers to get your Tuttle fins (both Std. and Deep) to fit into your Deep Tuttle fin box.
It's a bit of a daunting task, but very careful filing and sanding will get the Tuttle fin
root to pull into the fin box in your Hypersonic to the correct depth.
Which size Hypersonic do your have? 96/105/111/125/133?
Since the Hypersonic is a very fast slalom board you really should not need a fin
much > 48 cm unless you have the Hypersonic 133 and want to use really large sails.
The reason for the deep fin box is that the fin box must extend all the way from the bottom skin
of the board to the top skin of the board to give it strength.
Hope this helps,
Roger

Thx Roger -- the bolts that came with fin were too short, so I got some 3" ones, still too short, just got some 4" ones, will try out today. If you hear of anyone with a fin with the really deep I guess old style fin box who wants to part with it, lmk, thx.

psychowboy,
Look around at the local shops,
Or purchase a deep Tuttle in the size you think you need.
Hypersonics use fairly small fins, and fins > 50 cm rarely come with a
Deep Tuttle fin root (unless you go for more expensive custom fins
from Kashy Fins/Tectonics things like that).
The tail on the Hypersonic and the fairly narrow tail width make larger
fins unnecessary.
I still have one of the very few 96 liter Hypersonics in the USA and
I use the fin that came with the board.
