Hello all
Have a F133 2008 and love it, also have a F111 2011 and hate it..... Being kind a tall 197cm and therefore having a rather high boom setting, the 2011 deep deck concave doesn’t allow me to reach my preferred boom height setting. The boom cutout (NP sails) are simply not big enough, so it feels really weird sailing around with the low boom setting. Do the 2010 Futuras have as deep a concave as the 2011? If not, then I sell my 2011 and get a 2010. Best reg. Jan |

Jan,
A suggestion..... Rig your sail 1-2" higher (use a longer extension) and you will get the top of the boom cutout back up where you are comfotable with it. Might lose a tiny big by not "closing the gap", but i'd bet the difference would not be measureable. Roger |

You're not the only person with this problem. I am 2.06 meters and also have my boom at almost highest level. Now i also really dont know if I want to buy a futura for the same reason. I bought a Hellcat 2011 and the maximum hight for the boom is a few centimeters lower then my favorite V6 2009 sails. What will be the difference with a futura board in boomheight, any idea? |

Just made some measurements on the F133 2008 and F111 2011.
F133 height diff. mast track to top of board between front footstraps = 0cm height diff. F111 = 3 cm height diff - so apparently I need to set my boom 3cm higher. SB say about 2 cm on their webpage – so I guess you need 2-3 cm higher – if possible. It looks like wind this weekend, so I´ll give a go. Rig the sail with too long extension (1-2cm) as Roger suggests and then really move the boom up to the absolute maximum height. Best Reg. Jan |

It sounds to me this is a sail manufacturing problem not giving you the range required, as opposed to SB improving the way their boards handle...just a thought.

Hi All
The Deep Deck Concave have a big advantage to increase control and reduce the tail walking due to a simple geometric fact. All your rig is more vertical due to the DDC so the power of sail is more vertical and keep the board nose down. On the iSonic is more extrem and the benefits are even better. Have fun All the best

Off course when dealing with wide boards &the DDC, you need to consider your EBH. With a move from long boards and mast tracks to shorter wider boards, EBH, will cause nose lift, front foot float and a host of other issues.
