gps board

im willing to try my speed whith gps
sail size is 6,2
18 knots plus for the wind rarely exceeding 30 knots
my doubt is isonic 90 or 87 or speedw58
weight 88 kgs
water state quite flat whith some choppy downwind
will the speedboard clearly have better gps ?

Forgot to say that i have allready reach 34,5 knots whith this sail in this spot on an rrd xfire 90 last summer
The board was from a friend of mine and i used it for a few days
Today i have isonic 110 for slalom
The seed i want to reach is over 35 knots dreming on 40 knots

If top speed is what your after, the W58 is best for sure. Very easy board to use and has a great wind range. It also pretty quick. Can be sailed like a high wind xs slalom but is also a great light wind speed board. Decent on chop and gybes good. Won't accelerate out of gybes as quick as the iS87 or iS90.

I use mine with a 7m, 7.8m and 8.6m, fins from 30cm to 34cm. In the right conditions, the board is good for low 40's, I did manage to get a 38k peak with an 8.6m this summer. Definetly think it will do 40k with big sails

Mark, you really put an 8.6 on the iSW58?? Isn't that too much for the board to cope with? How was it? What fin and set-up did you use?

Hi Marko

Yep, it works great for light wind speed when the bigger winds are hiding. I use a F-Hot 34cm, 8.6m with max downhaul to prevent spin-out, mast track right back and low boom. Works a treat in 15k to 25k summer breezes.

I tried to upload a short video of this combo, but it would not work (need checking by moderator). If you click the contour link in my signator and go to the video dated 14th May, you can see this combo working

Hi Mark,

Nive vids you have there (http://contour.com/videos/watch/west-kirby-14th-may). I was surprised to watch how good you can come back upwind to the starting point in just 1 upwind leg.

I tried once a ReflexIII 8.6 sail on the iSonic W53 speed gun just to see how it would (mis)match. Surprisingly, it went fairly smoothly and I was still under full control while being frankly overpowered in the bigger gusts (the iSonic 117 Wide was starting to be at the upper limit in 16+ knots gusts for my 65 kg light weight). The Deboichet SL4 32 cm fin handled that big sail without any problem at all. Need to move the boom higher up because the 32" harness lines are a bit long on this narrow gunny board (it's perfect on the 117 Wide, however). So, I surmise that the W58 option would be spot on for a heavy weight rider.
