Default Ultrasonic volume need change now !

Hi Remi .
I had been using the Ultrasonic 2011 carbon for 5 years now . I love this board .
The only problem is it didn't plane early in light wind due to low volume of 147 l although the high end is good . Now the JP Superlight has increase the volume to 167 L and achieve better
light wind performance . I would strongly recommend starboard to increase the volume of Ultrasonic to around 155l or more . Most buyer of this board will use it in very light wind anyway.
Thanks

Not sure if an extra 8 litres will help early planing. A wider tail would definitely help!

Hi Ronny

The 2015/2016 version is 95 cm wide and this help a lot for planing, widft is much more important than volume to get planing.

Be ready to up grade ??

All the best

Default May upgrade Ultrasonic .

Thanks for the reply .
The new board appearance is quite attractive but I am afraid the improvement may be marginal . The price is another consideration also .

I own an ultrasonic 2014 and it's an unbelievable board. I use it with a 9.5 racing sail. Early planing, fast and easy to ride. The width is for sure more important then the volume. I have friends at my spot with the Jp you mentioned. Maybe a little bit early planing but they have to stop quickly at soon as the wind pick up even a little bit. Their board is becoming difficult to control. Ultrasonic is in my opinion, a master piece.

Another question is the price. I have no idea why Starboard is increasing the price and not even give a promotion to buy it. Everything is down from energy to material, almost 3 times compare only 3 years ago. I used to change a board every 2 years, now I opt every 4 years. Next increase in the cost will be every 6 years or change brand, that they are already offering discount on products.
Starboard is losing money from me at least, but I'm sure many other share my view.

My two favourite boards are my longboards and my JP SLW92.
The dream boards are SB Phantom 377 and SB US.
As time goes by I see these boards go to $5000 and $3000 respectively.
Even with the my children no longer dependent on me and making an okay salary, I CANNOT commit to paying such prices ....
My only option, since I am practically 60 now, is to hope my boards last me to the end

My longboards are Fanatic Ultra CAT, Mistral Equipe I/one and Mistral Equipe II/2. Gotta love those old babies !!

Smile Just order the Atom Windsufer instead .

Thanks for the response .
I just decided to order the Atom Windsurfer instead because I need the daggerboard to carry
me to windy position of the sea when the wind is very fluky . Spend half the price and keep the old Ultrasonic because I don't think I can sell the board cause this board is very uncommon in my
location .
Cheers .
