Carve 122 vs S-Type 126

Hello I currently own a Carve 111 2006 DRAM, i weight 82Kg and i want to have more fun in 12-18 knots conditions which board would you advice considering:
- my bigger sail is NP Saber 7.2
- my second board is RRD freewave L (95l)

in the above conditions which board will be the earlier planer? which one will have the max top end speed?

Hi, I will go for the S-type. I think this board is maneovrable, fast and also very early planning board. The Stype fin is a bit longer than the Carve fin, and with a few pumps you will be planning with no problem.

I think that you will enjoy that carve a lot with your 7.2...but, then, why dont you think in a bigger sail too? I think you can feel really powered with a 8.0 in that stype

Many thanks Ricardo, do you think the 2007 S-Type is more "technical" than the 2006 model? I mean will be more difficult to gybe? I did not read any test yet on the latest model, but I know that this new board has something from the iSonic...

Hi,
would recommend you the S-Type 126. too. The board feels more direct, but jibes quite fine. It just needs your inside leg positioned well the pressure on the rail quite continously. You will like the board and you can even take bigger sizes up to 9.0 m² without any troubles.

I dont think you will find S type any earlier planing than Carve and only marginally faster and then only when very well (boredering on?) overpowered.Carve will also gybe easier. (slightly)
With your 95 litre board to utilise in high winds/rough water and opt for isonic.
Dont really think you will see much benefit going to S type.
(I also think S types are significantly smaller (in volume) than quoted.)
I`ve sold my 126 but reckon its volume was more like 120 ish.

I have the ST 126 for three years. All in all, I deem it an excellent freerace board. I would not rig bigger than 8 sqm but in the range 12 ~ 20 Knts, it's perfect for my 68 Kgs. Now it might be a bit too small for your 82 Kgs and 7.2 Saber. Have you considered a bigger Carve and/or a bigger sail ?
