Severne s-1 and Tushingham rdm

Hi,

I am new around here. I was wondering if someone could help me out with my question about a Severne S-1 (5,9m2) and a Tushingham rdm 100%. Will these items be a good combination in light wind conditions? Anyone who knows this?

Hi there

The severne masts are a true constant curve and the tushingham ones a little bit flex top (but not much) because they made them a bit stiffer around the join to stop them losing power like some rdm's

I think it should be a nice combination actually - you will have to rig with not too much downhaul and then quite high outhaul or you will break the leach to early for light winds.

Be interesting to know how you get on - i have a full set of tushingham rdms they are great on tush and np sails but i do like the look of the S1 .....

A softer top should give more control, a stiffer top more low end power.

Tushingham has a flextop bend curve, while Severne has a stifftop. Not a match made in heaven. There are quite a number of other sail brands that would fit your mast better!
