Hello R??mi,
I own a Code Red (R1) 11.0 m and I would like to know if the performance of this sail could also benefit from the new Severne mast tip extension. I rig this sail with the 550 mast, but I also have a 520. Thanks for your support! Rafa |

Hi Raffig,
Yes your sail will be beter with the tip extension. The sail will be more easy to pump, but also you will have beter performances in all conditions and particulary in light wind. You will go thruth the lulls more easily. All the best

Hi,
When I saw the title I thought it was a bad joke, but indeed on the Severne homepage there it is: ===> The SEVERNE Mast Tip extension produce a sail that feels light in hand, is easier to control and ferociously fast. It is designed for use with SDM Masts in mind but the team Severne has also developed a cam conversion especially for riders with a preference for RDM Masts. Recommended for CODE Red R2 Sails in size: 9.0, 10.0, 11.0, 11.6 <=== What on earth is this? Why has it been developed, and why is it only for Race sails? Does it make the mast a flextop, or... What is the "cam conversion"? I don't understand a thing. Could someone please elaborate? regards PG |

Hi PG,
This tip extension help a lot for the light wind sails from 9 to 11.6. It's a combination of softer mast with stiffer battens. So we use : a 550 imcs 34 + 30 cm tip extension onthe 11.6 a 530 imcs 32 + 30 cm tip extension on the 11 a 490 imcs 29 + 30 cm tip extension on the 10 a 490 imcs 29 + 30 cm tip extension on the 9 The big benefits of this is that the sail is more soft in the tip, so help a lot in pumping but also you keep plaining a lot more in this configuration. The sail feel lighter and accelerate more and have a beter up wind angle and keep the angle in the lulls. Light wind in waves is a real pleasure, the sails work for you and keep planing longer. All the best
