Recently I bought a new O'Neil Psycho I to start my season. I have a four year old North 4.5/2.5 Race suit and a 17 year old Body Glove 3/4. Unfortunately, I've gained a little weight and the Body Glove has become too hard to put on at the beach. The North suit fits and is warm, but I don't want to sail in short sleeves right away. I find it hard to believe that the new Psycho I will be as warm or warmer than my other suits. The neoprene is thicker in the 4.5 sections of the North and there is much more 4 mm material in both suits than the O'Neil. I'm hoping I don't hit the cold water hereabouts and find out that I'm right. The salesman insisted that I will find the new suit warmer in spite of the fact that it is a thinner suit. Should I prepared for a shock?

Now, I've logged in. Actually, from what they are saying there should be less restrictions on the blood flow because the suit is so stretchy. I'm going to head out soon.

New wetsuits are ALWAYS warmer than old ones. The old ones break down internally and lose their insulation properties. But I am of the firm convection (!) that a new thicker one is warmer than a new thinner one!
