carve of ahd type 160 or f2 stoke

i have been thinking about three boards now im thinking about the carve 144 or the f2 stoke 155 or the ahd ype 160 i want a board that will plane fast in light wind like 12-15 on my 7.5 swift what do you think of the f2 stoke have you sailed it also what do you think of the ahd type 160 do you think it would plane fatser than the stoke

Hi Andrew,
Sorry, I've never sailed the F2 Stoke or the AHD Type 160 so I really cannot make a valid comparison for you.
The F2 Stoke 155 (260 cm long x 80 cm wide) is slightly wider than the Carve 144 (252 cm long x 78 cm wide) so it might plane slightly earlier based on width.
The AHD Type F 160 is the longest of the bunch (268 cm long x 79 cm wide) and may plane at about the same time as the Carve 144 as well.
Depending on what you weigh, a 7.5 m2 Gaastra Swift may not be large enough to really get the most from any of these boards.
A larger 8.5-9.5 m2 rig would sure help with 12-14 knots.
Your 7.5 will work nicely at around 14 knots if you are a heavier sailor.

Hi Andrew,
Do you have any larger rigs, or any plan to get larger rigs?
78-80 cm boards may be able to plane (skills dependent) in around
10-11 knots with a 9.0-9.5 m2 rig.
To have a good time in FL in the summer, you'll really cut back your sailing by staying on the 7.5 m2.

hey i am looing for a 9.0 and a smaller sail 2 i have a 7.5 that is all right now what do you think of a 6.0 for the smaller one and i am looking at the maui ms2 9.0 what do you think about that could you recomend a sail thanks

Hi Andrew,
I have not sailed any Maui Sails, but I do have alot of respect for the Maui Sails design and test team.
So, it's a good brand, and if something steers you toward getting Maui Sails, then go for it.
A quiver of 9.0 m2/7.5 m2/and 6.0 m2 is spaced a little wider than optimum (7.5-6.0) but it should certainly work for you.
What brand is you 7.5 m2.
Often, staying with the same brand is a good idea because the sails rig pretty much the same.
Learning to rig and tune different brands of sails may not be as easy as you think.
What board did you decide on?

Hi Andrew,
I think I'd suggest the Carve 122 instead of the 133, if you plan on getting some smaller sails.
The 122 is pretty optimum with a 7.5 m2.
Be a little careful when changing from Gaasta (your Swift) to Maui Sails.
You'll need a bigger mast for the 9.0 MS, so try to get the Maui Sails mast that's recommended for the 9.0.
If you get a smaller 6.0 rig, your 460 mast that you use in the 7.5 could work if it's the right specs.
Just be careful when you buy the smaller sail to get one that's compatible with your existing mast.
