the starboard 2003 page is http://2003.star-board.com/ , hope you can find the info your looking for on here, i think they should put the archive links back on, the sites are still up but you have to know the address, whats the point in that!?

100 x 280 are the dimensions of the 2001 / 2002 model.
2001 had a diamond tail, 2002 similar but slightly rounder. 2003 was the first compact model and was only 255 long IMO, the 2001 was the best, 2002 next, 2003 last regards, rod |

There were two Start models in 2003, a Start Small 255 cm long 180 ltrs 100 cm wide, and a Start Large 265 cm long 210 ltrs 110 cm wide (details taken from 2003 catalog).
The 2001 Start had a thick, white, half-moon, short Tuttle box centerboard (I have the 2001). The next "centerboard" change was to a thinner, black, deep Tuttle box centerboard with about the same depth but was longer front to back, extended further toward the stern. I think that change occurred in 2002. The 2003 Start had a 22 cm oblong, deep Tuttle centerboard. The next "centerboard" change was use of the "clipperbox" retractable daggerboard. I think that change occurred in 2004, but that is only a guess. |

Hi jpon2,
I've notified the Starboard IT folks about the broken links on the archives. As far as the center fin that you have, it was never a really sucessful design. Not sure what year we had those (2001/2002/2003) but we never used them in the "A Taste of Windsurfing" program as they made the Starts very hard to tack and jibe. Better to find a shallow water similar to the one you have for the back of the board and put that in the center fin slot as well. Our best configuration was a 38 cm True Ames "Stubbie" in the rear fin slot and the std. 41 cm Start rear fin in the center fin slot. If you email me your hull's serial number I can probably trace the exact lineage of your board. I only need the letters and numbers until you get to the "000's. That will give us the year model and month/year it was prodiuced. Email to: sailquik@gmail.com Roger |
