Default Sail and Fin range for Kombat 105 (2008)

I`m just replacing my Carve 111 (2004) for a new Kombat 105.
I weight 70kg and usually sail in 12-20 knots condition. I have two questions:

1 - Today I use the carve with a Severne NCX 8.0 (my bigger sail), with a Drake 32 fin. Will the NCX work with the kombat and its 30 fin?

2 - I`m having a hard on finding bigger fins with US box. Is there any brand that I can find that produce freeride fins with Us box? I`m particulary interestet in a 34 freeride with us box.

Bons Ventos

Hi Jose,

You might want to check out the True Ames website. The Convert model looks like what you might be looking for.

Jose,

You can get the 8.0 to work on the Kombat but I wouldn't call it a perfect match. With the right technique it might work tough and since you got it working with the Carve, you might get it to work on the K105 too. I would not want to overload that fin box with much bigger than 32. The biggest Drake Crossover is 30cm, if I recall things correctly. A True Ames 32 might be what you're looking for.

Thanks guys,

i`ll try to get one of these Tru Ames. And now i`m also thinking about replacing my NCX 8.0 for a 7.5 sail. Maybe is a better match.

But I`d like to register that maybe the K105 should have been released with tuttle box, just like the bigger kombats. Maybe there are more people havin the same problem out there. I`m a freerider who`s trying to make the transition for B&J and but not wanting to give up fast freeride sailing... If this is the calling for the kombat, and the freeride oriented fins are more easily found in tuttle box version, then the k105 (not a very high air size of board) should have a fin box that`s more compatible with the size of the sails the board can carry (max 7.5).
