Default Are there any Windsurfing only Holiday Destinations?

I and a group of friends are looking for a windsurfing only holiday destination, we hate windsurfing near people that kitesurf, who take up so much room and make it dangerous for us. We are prepared to pay a financial premium to holdiay in a windsurf only area. Do such places exists?

Any prefered continent or countries? Strong wind, medium wind, flat water, waves?
What´s about Alacati/Turkey or Gran Canaria/Spain?

Since you brought it up, it's a shame about Maui. Officially there is no kiteboarding allowed in any of the areas where you would be windsurfing. You can refer to the agreement between the FAA and the Maui Kiteboarding Association here:

http://www.mauikiteboardingassociati.../kitemaps.html

However, kiters with an attitude routinely disregard the agreement and show up at other areas where they make a nuisance of themselves, including Lowers Kanaha, Uppers Kanaha, Camp One, Spreckelsville, and elsewhere - all of these restricted areas according to the agreement and the maps.

Yet, there is hope. Word is that the FAA intends to rescind the agreement entirely when it comes up for review next year. This means that kiting will be banned completely and Maui will be a kite-free zone. A letter-writing campaign is under way to support the FAA's decision.

The MKA has demonstrated that it has no control over the kiting community, and that its self-policing is entirely ineffective; therefore it will have no basis to protest the ban.

This probably will not happen before your coming vacation, but maybe the next time, you might just be able to enjoy Maui again.

You could try El Tur (Egypt) where there are very few people on the water at any time and only the occasional kiter who will almost always be well out of the way. Dahab (Egypt) is crowded with windsurfers and the odd kiter but I have never had a problem with them. Usually it is just beginners in the lagoon where you would not be windsurfing.
Cabo Verde is also a good destination. The Kiters usualy launch at the other side of the island to windsurfers.

Can we not all play together? I often sail Hayling island (UK) where we all get along well. The kiters tend to sail in the shallow water of the sand bar and where we mix most tend to get along well.

My experience is that Kiters jump unpredictably, fly upwind of you and you have to pass under their lines, and I have been hit by a kite once and had many near misses, I don't know what more evidence I need to know they are unsafe??? I value my life and health too much to risk windsurfing near them, can't trust them.

Never came into troubles with a kitesurfer. Last time I saw a board swimming far downwind and fixed it on the boom to get it back on shore. Was tricky, but the variotrimsystem on my boom made it possible.
Guess, you just should stay away from areas where beginners start to kitesurf. If kitesurfers are experienced, it´s´easy. Had many good sessions with kitesurfers in Vietnam ripping together in waves.

What´s about Baja Calafornia (La Ventana, Los Barilles)? There is a lot of space for both "disciplines".

Enjoy,
Chris

Bonaire, Lac Bay didn't have any kiting there last time I was there, you might want to re-check, at Cabarate, DR., kiting/windsurfing are at opposite side of larger sailing area
