Isonic 133

Hi Starboard team (and everyone reading),I'd like to go for a big slalom board that allows me to sail in 9,0 and 7,8.
I guess that one of the option is Isonic 133 (135 seems to be a great board yet).
What did you improved on 2007 model?
Is there a real refinement that can be felt while sailing?

Hi G,

The iSonic 135 was my favorite machine with 9m this year, the new iSonic 133 is an early plaining one and with his new rocker and bottom shape this board ride higher on water and accelearate more.

Thank you Remi,some more question:
does improved rocker make the board sensitive to back foot pressure (the more you push the more you accellerate) ? If yes,it reminds me my old 158...
What about jibe ability?
Starboard states that tail width was reduced.Why?Better downwind attitude and more "slalom feeling" ride?
In your opinion what is the smaller sail after 9,0 that still works very good? 7,8 racing sail is right or too small at around 80 kg on small-moderate chop with good skill?
Finally,what you find best improved in 2007 version (133)?
I'm sorry for so many questions but I'd like to know more before spend my cash!

Hi G,

I weigh 83kgs and used a 125 last year for 9 and 7.8m sails. I have now decided to replace it with a 122, took me a while to decide as I nearly went to 133, but felt in the end that my old 125 had enough light wind performance with a 9m but also very managable with 7.8, not sure if the same could be said with 133 with 7.8m.

Hope to get out on it soon, suppose it also depends on what size board you have below your suggested 133? as for me, mine,s a 101.

Allan,thank you for your advice.I'm sure 122 has a good light-med performance but it won't be enough if you're more then 80 kg and compete in gusty wind with any other on 80 cm boards.In this case,I guess,it's better going big with the board and smaller in sail but no the reverse.
But if you use to sail alonefor fun or just with your friend in spare time,that's another thing,you can go smaller.
Maybe Remi can give us a better feedback on this.
I'm really interested in what should be the smaller one: 111,101,94.
101 should be right but I listened it run so low....

So Remi,what is your advice?In your opinion,what is the real difference between 133 and 122?Does sailor's weight or sail range make it?

Hi All,

If you are looking for a fast light wind machine go for the iSonic 133. This board is specialy dedicace for light wind slalom event and are really perfect with 9 and 10m, but also still very good with 7.7. Do not go under for exemple I am faster with the iSonic 105 with 6.7m.

The balance is beter on the iSonic 133 if you would like to use a 10m compare to the iSonic 122. 122 and 133 work perfectly with the 9m, but I prefer the 133.

I chose 3 boards this year for my next season : iSonic 87, 101 and 133 and my sails will be 5.6 ; 6.7 ; 7.7 ; 9 and 10m

Hi Remi,
Great info on iS 133, thanks. I'm thinking of either iS 133 or 145 to add more lightwind to a Carve 122 that I use up to 8.0m. I'm 75kg. I want to add a 9 (or 9.6m?). Location is coastal and objective is to get planing fast in 9-13+ kts. Which size do you advise? If the size jump is too big for 9kts I prefer a well-matched board range over the low end.
