isonis 50 or 76?
Hi, my name is Tom, I am 10 years old.
I started surfing in the summer of 2007.
I just won the Aruba Hi-Winds 2008 slalom and longdistance for the New Kids (on my old second/third hand Exocet 75).
I need some advise on a new board.
What would be better for me, an isonic 50 or a 76?
My sail is a 4.0 I would like to go to some more races next year.
Maybe Bonaire or Sto. Domingo.
Hope you can help me out. THANKS

i think it is better to user a more slalom oriented board to use maybe a real race 4,5 or 4,8 sails with cambers on it. Depends on your experience.
so i think the bigger board is a good choice cause i sonics feel much smaller than other boards. you surf it fully powered on the fin. acceleration and running throgh the lulls is better, when volume is not to less. So if you take the 50, and you have maybe 45kg or less, there is not much space for that. You should have constantly high winds, but where are they? it is always gusty, everwhere around the world. Also jibing could be quite difficult for you, especially in the races.
the only problem is your weigth, the straps are very much outboard. Maybe a professional tuner / shaper in your town can help you by adding a few more positions for footstraps on the isonic for you. Or you can try the original positions, maybe it is OK, . Use a seat harness, especially when you are lightweigth like you.

Location: I live on Bonaire and Sorobon is the place to be for Freestyle and Slalom here on the island.
Which isonic to choose ???
Here Amado from Bonaire.
I should say, when you want to buy a Isonic slalom-board and you are 10 years old, do not buy it to small. Ofcourse it is depending on your weight. I started on my Isonic 87 about 2 years ago when I was 10 years and 35 kg. I still use it with a 4.5/5.5 and 6.0 camber-sail depending on the wind. Because of the bigger volume you also can use it when the wind is not that strong. But, when you want to go slalom-racing with very strong winds it is better to use the isonic 76 with a big fin.
Overall , I think a isonic 76 or 87 (I do not kow how big you are and what weight you have) would be a good buy.
At our age we grow fast and you will have longer fun with
your board. You can send me a mail on
firstname.lastname@example.org so we can talk about it in dutch or papiamentu. I hope I helped you a little to decide which board to choose, have a lot of fun with windsurfing and meet you some day here on Bonaire !!!
