futura 101 2009 vs 2008

really love my 2008 futura 101 technora. is the 2009 version much better or not that much different?

cannot read much about it on this site...

Hi kvda,

2009 FU101 is really the evolution model (after the new model released 2008). So at first glance (especially over website, without the board - or the test ride) the changes are not so obvious - which is often pretty common in 'second generation" release.

The basics of overall length and width remain basically unchanged, rocker profile overall similar and static volume of the 2009 is 101Lt (actual).

However, when you get up close to the 2009 FU101 the first thing you will notice is the even meaner/leaner deck profile ; around the mast track/fwd deck area there is a significant thinner profile and a further recessed mast track (iSonic genetics = lower centre of drive/effort ; makes a big difference at the top end of control). Then you'll notice the rear standing area now visibly more "domed" (especially in comparison to the lean, recessed front) which is noticeably improving the stance/grip/control/drive thru the straps. So on the water, the most significant difference/s are improvements in control/handling/confidence, which improve the rider's opportunity to run the board at higher speed, especially in more difficult conditions.

The overall efficency ( again, this aspect based on proven evolution/development of iSonic performance) has been moderately improved thru the increase in planing/surface area concentrated between the feet, while the tail area behind the back foot remains relatively pinched in (slightly more on 2009) to concentrate a lot of curve back there(and thus good jibing/transition).

Much better ? or not much different ??
Depends where and how you use it, but for pushing top end speed (and control, in rougher conditions) the 2009 is noticeably better in the hands of a typical sport/freeride type rider.

Do both of them feature a single foot strap option in the back?

Answer,

2008, No.
2009, Yes.

2008 and 2009 both feature OUTBOARD and narrow INBOARD double rear options.
2009 FU101 also features additional centre (single) rear inserts - so 3 back options.
