Default Who´s faster on 15knots?

Hi all,
This next sunday we are having the II Fast-val , sort of speed contest.
32 competitors with heats of 4 each time, 500m only one leg on beam reach.
The forecast is about 15k, a bit stronger of what windguru says http://windguru.com/pt/index.php?sc=3624. It´s a lake, some chop, but it is flat water.
Any gear is allowed, and probably about 10-12 are gonna be formula guys who don´t have slalom to chose. Some are good sailors, and there are very good slalom guys who don´t have formula either...
Other thing is Fevesc (Santa Catarina Sailing Federation) and a TV channel are prizing the first ones with some cash... The first one is getting BR$1500!!!!
What are your bets, if we had hypothetically two sailors with same skill and competitive gear, formula against slalom, with that forescast on flat water ??

Cool Formula

15 knots max over 500m Formula.
If carrying GPS big slalom might post best Vmax.

If 15 knots steady gusting bit more big slalom on (assuming 90 degree beam reach) might do it.
(Covered it all )

PS Board with best VMG !!!

Default Faster in 15knots

My bet is that with steady 15 knots on flat water a light guy on a slalom equipment should be the fastest over 500m. Is Schurmann participating?

XXL Slalom (iS133/Fanatic Falcon 145 etc), a 9m and a fast 45/48cm fin should be good for nearly a 2:1 wind ratio, steady 15k should see 25/30k beam reaching on the 500m course.

I would bet on a large slalom board too, something well balanced with a 9-10 m sail.

For a formula board to be faster on a beam reach, the wind would have to be pretty light, probably 10 knots or less.

Untill max. 15k. Formula with 85 kg sailor 11m sail , fin 66-68cm and no rake (I am 90% sure) will win the speed contest.
But over 15 k. there is no chance for Formula to beat the bigger slalom boards, that is my experience at the greek slalom blaster we race in Greece where all the categories of Windsurf are racing together.
