sup (9'8 fish) mast tracks

i have a starboard 9'8 fish and are lead to believe all the sup use a normal style mast track under the deck pads id i was to cut away the foam that looks to be filling it will that allow me to have a fully adjustable mast track or is there something else that will be stoping it. Has anyone done this yet? cheers charlie
