Isonic 101 vs. 111

Hello dream team,

I need our experts' advice: I am ready to invest in a 100% slalom kit but have hard time to select the right board/sail combination:
I want to but a Overdrive 7.0 or 7.5m2 + red line mast for perfect engine

, however what Isonic would bring me the best weapon? 101 or 111L ??
1,84m - 73Kg (without wetsuit

)- advanced-expert - like changing settings to sail "light" more with style than power.

I usually sail Futura (101 & 122) and kode (74 & 86) all conditions but no-cam sails so far.
Whatever board choice it will overlap with one of my Futura, tough choice!!

The iSonic 111 is the best of all the boards in the iSonic range.
It can be used down to a 6.3 and all the way up to a 8.0m sail.
The best fin for the board will be a 40cm for small sails and all the way to a 46cm for the biggest sails.
IF you are going to buy fins try this guys right now they have really good 100% carbon fins at a real good price.

Had the same question as you last 2008 and got an IS111, as my weight is 71kg i felt it a little big when in large chop, this year i switched to an IS 101 and for my weight it is perfect with NP 7.2 and i use it between 6.6 to 7.8 , great board.

I use a Is-111 and it is a great board, it only starts to be big for me in 6.6 overpowered when I switch to my smaller slalom anyway. The Is-101 would overlap both your Futura, while the Is-111 will extend the range of use above the Futura 111.

For fin next year I will be using a Tectonics Talon 40, 6.6-7.3 and 8.0 sails. I am 68-70Kg.

Hi JJG,

If you choose 7m², the best board will be the 101, but if you choose the 7,5m² that will be the 111. Both works great on the board but this is just the best combination.

For is my best set up : the SL4 38 for the tamdem iSonic 101/7m² and SL4 40 for the tandem iSonic 111/7,5m².
