Dear friends,
i am a heavy weight(120kilos) windsurfer progressing to plannig and searching for buying a board. A friend here in brazil recommended the apollo board instead of a formula experience 160. I saw the new hwr too, but its hard to find in brazil and its expensive for me these days. I did not comprehend the apollo recomendation because i thought i needed a bigger volume, and the apollo is just 150 l. Because of my weight. What do you recomend? Foltation is always related to volume? |

Hi!
Yes to the volume and to te width. But first, what kind of sail do you want to put there? How many wind? According to me: < 13 knots it's difficult to go out... 13-20 knots 150 lt with 8.5 sail 20 <wind < 25 knots 120 lt with 7 sail > 25 knots 100 lt with 5.5 |

I would not pick a Formula at all... You say you are "progressing to planing", meaning that you are in a learning phase. At your weight, in order to get planing early on a formula, you would need a 12 m2 sail. That is BIG and really requires some technique to muscle around.
I would rather recommend a big Futura, or some other freeride board in the 150-160 liter range. A 9 m2 sail is already fairly powerful, but the handling is still reasonable. If you have to go bigger than that with the sail depends on how light the winds are at your home spot. Besides, you need a powerful freeride sail rather than a 10 m2 formula highwind sail. |

According to me you have to choose between GO 155 and GO 175, the 175 is 91cm large so according to me is perfect for your weight and better than GO 155
