iS 86 or iS 94

I'm 73 kg 1.85m and 15 years old. The wind is usually 18 knots here. I've got iS 101 and I want to buy a smaller board this year. The options are iS 86 & iS 94. Which board would be better for me?

Oh sorry I forgot it.

I've got loft blade 7.0 and loft blade 6.2. Probably, I will put the 6.2 on.

I have tried both iS86 (2010) and iS94 (2010). There are some interesting differences. The iSonic 86 is clearly made for very powered up windsurfing, in gusts you get amazing control with iSonic 86... I haven't found the windlimit yet with the iSonic 86+6.2, last time went out with +-36kn gusts and it was fun!!! The iS86 is simply stable and easy to keep on the water.

The iSonic 94 was a totally different story, in gusty winds the iSonic 94 clearly has the edge. The iSonic 94 can take much more messy chop without real constant wind in the sail. On flat water the iSonic 86 was better for me in 18kn, but on chop/messy water the iSonic 94 has an much faster trim... The iS94 is soooo stable, yet fast.

On the iSonic 86 and 94 did in way less than ideal conditions 35++kn boardspeed was possible, topspeed was near 40kn :P. My experience is the iS86 works a bit better with a slightly more powerfull fin.

Hi Emir633,

In my opinion to complete your iSonic 101 would be better to get the iSonic 86, both or your sails will work on the 101 and the 86 but for different condition, you can even go for the 86 Slim.

iSonic 101/7 & 6.2 for Flat water
iSonic 86Slim or 86 choppy water with 7 & 6.2

I want to buy a iS 86 but I'm gonna race next year and my coach said that I shouldn't take the risk cause if the wind goes down during the race, iS 86 will make some differences but if I buy iS 94, it won't. So what should I do?

Hi Emir633,

At 73 kgs the 86 is the one for race, 94 is more hight wind board for very heavy racers.

You have 6.2 and 7.0 and this sail are perfect for it and 94 will be to close to 101, so definitelly I recommend you the 86.

Hi Emir633,

Yes sure, I just remind you that is the favorite board for PWA Racers until 100 kgs over they prefer the 94 for very heavy racers as small board and anyway that will make no sense to get the 94 and you have already the 101.

And just for you information, if you have to hesitate it will be between 86 Slim and 86, I am 90 kgs and love the 86 Slim with 7.0 and 6.2
